Board Member, The Reeds Fund

The Reeds Fund is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join its Board of Directors. We are a dynamic and growing non-profit organization committed to educating, advocating for, and liberating young adults on the autistic spectrum . Our mission is to empower these individuals to achieve their full potential and live fulfilling, independent lives.

As a Board Member, you will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic direction and ensuring the long-term sustainability of The Reeds Fund. You will be instrumental in expanding our reach, strengthening our programs, and advocating for policies that support the autistic community.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Leadership: Actively participate in the development and oversight of the organization's strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission and vision.
  • Fundraising & Financial Oversight: Support fundraising initiatives, leverage personal networks, and contribute to the financial health and sustainability of the organization. Review and approve annual budgets and financial reports.
  • Governance & Compliance: Uphold the organization's bylaws, policies, and ethical standards. Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Advocacy & Outreach: Serve as an ambassador for The Reeds Fund, raising awareness about our mission and advocating for the needs of young adults on the autistic spectrum.
  • Program Support & Development: Provide insights and guidance on program effectiveness, helping to identify new opportunities and enhance existing initiatives.
  • Board Participation: Attend regular board meetings (e.g., quarterly) and committee meetings as required. Actively participate in discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Networking & Partnerships: Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, partners, and stakeholders who can further the organization's goals.

Qualifications:

We are seeking individuals with a strong commitment to our mission and a diverse range of skills and experiences. Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Demonstrated passion for supporting young adults on the autistic spectrum and their families.
  • Previous experience in non-profit governance, strategic planning, fundraising, finance, marketing, legal, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and contribute to high-level decision-making.
  • A collaborative spirit and willingness to work effectively as part of a team.
  • While not required, personal or professional experience with autism is a significant asset.
  • Ability to commit the time necessary to fulfill board responsibilities effectively.

Time Commitment:

Board members are expected to attend quarterly board meetings, participate in one or more committees, and dedicate additional time as needed for specific projects or initiatives.
