The Tax Services Specialist position is an in-person role at our Capitol Hill office.

Position Description

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Tax Planning, the Tax Services Specialist will play a key role in delivering comprehensive financial services to our clients, with a strong emphasis on both tax preparation and strategic tax planning. This position is well-suited for professionals seeking to transition from public accounting to a role that offers significantly improved work-life balance while continuing to apply their expertise in a client-focused environment.

Key responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review individual income tax returns with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Analyze financial documents and tax-related information to ensure completeness and compliance with current tax regulations
  • Communicate tax obligations and planning opportunities clearly and effectively to clients
  • Respond to client inquiries in a timely and professional manner; conduct research and resolve issues as necessary
  • Collaborate closely with team members to incorporate tax planning strategies into clients’ broader financial plans
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of income tax laws, industry trends, tools and best practices

Professional Development:

  • Demonstrated willingness to pursue advanced certifications or continued education in financial planning (e.g., CFP or PFS) to enhance professional expertise and better serve client needs

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field
  • Minimum of two years of experience in individual income tax preparation
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or active CPA candidate
  • Proficiency with tax preparation software; experience with CCH Axcess is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a focus on client service
  • High level of integrity, with a commitment to confidentiality and professional ethics
