Job Description

Our client, a regional liberal arts university, is seeking a motivated and organized Paralegal/Legal Assistant to join their team as soon as possible through the end of July 2025 . This role is 15-20 hours per week . The successful candidate will work closely with their current paralegal to support various legal functions and ensure the smooth operation of their legal department.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reorganize Filing System: Assist in reorganizing the paper filing system, creating and maintaining files using alpha/numeric methods.
• Automation: Implement basic automation processes to improve efficiency in file management.
• Scanning and Electronic Organization: Scan documents and organize electronic files into folders and subfolders.
• General Organizational Tasks: Perform general organizational tasks to support the team, ensuring all documents are easily accessible and well-maintained.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the current paralegal to support ongoing projects and tasks.
• Quick Learning: Adapt quickly to new tasks and responsibilities, demonstrating a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.

Qualifications:

• Education: Some college coursework in paralegal studies or related field preferred.
• Skills: Basic paralegal skill set, including familiarity with legal terminology and procedures.
• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using office equipment such as scanners and computers; basic understanding of automation tools.
• Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
