SAIC is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to join our team in Crane, IN .

JOB DESCRIPTION

The person in this role will be responsible for creating, editing, and managing technical documentation and ensuring document control processes are followed meticulously. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments to ensure documentation accuracy and compliance with company standards.

Job duties include:

  • Technical Writing:
    • Develop, write, and edit technical documents including user manuals, system manuals, training materials, technical procedures, and reports.
    • Create clear, concise, and accurate documentation for a variety of audiences, including engineers, technicians, and end-users.
    • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather information, understand technical concepts, and translate them into user-friendly documentation.
    • Ensure all technical documentation is up-to-date, accurate, and meets the company's formatting and quality standards.
  • Document Control:
    • Implement and maintain document control processes and systems to ensure efficient and accurate management of all technical documents.
    • Scan documents into repository for digital safekeeping.
    • Establish and enforce document control standards and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
    • Maintain an organized filing system for both physical and electronic documents.
    • Manage document version control, ensuring that the most current versions are available and obsolete versions are properly archived.
    • Facilitate document reviews and approvals, and track document changes and revisions.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with cross-functional teams including engineering, quality assurance, and project management to gather information and ensure accurate documentation.
    • Conduct interviews and meetings with stakeholders to gather information and clarify technical content.
    • Provide training and support to team members on document control processes and best practices.
    • Coordinate with external partners and vendors as needed to obtain and verify technical information.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology or a related field; OR Associate's Degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology or a related field and 1 year of related experience.
  • Must be able to obtain a Secret clearance; Interim Secret needed to start
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Writer, Document Control Specialist, or in a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to produce high-quality documentation.
  • Proficiency with documentation tools and software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems.
  • Experience with document control systems and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and regulations related to technical documentation and document control.
