Senior Product Development Engineer

We’re looking for a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the charge in scaling our biopolymer resin product development program. The ideal candidate is a strategic, values-driven innovator who thrives at the intersection of science, sustainability, and customer collaboration. They are a seasoned polymer expert with a passion for solving complex challenges and a track record of turning ideas into scalable, real-world solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

Process & Product Development

• Design and scale commercially viable, industrially relevant manufacturing processes.
• Optimize process efficiency, cost, and quality through data-driven experimentation and simplification.
• Collaborate with Sales and Market Development to co-create solutions with strategic customers.
• Translate market needs into innovative biopolymer applications and product extensions.

Innovation & Launch

• Lead full-scale field trials and product launches, serving as the technical expert in customer engagements.
• Develop and implement testing protocols, SOPs, and analytical methods for biopolymer resins.
• Partner with academic institutions to advance material testing and analysis.

Leadership & Strategy

• Model RWDC’s Living Values, ensuring all decisions reflect our commitment to our teammates, our mission and our culture.
• Build and mentor a high-performing team of scientists and technicians.
• Contribute to long-term strategic planning and global product portfolio growth.
• Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What it takes to be successful:

• PhD in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in PHA or biopolymer commercialization and/or advanced polymer R&D.
• Deep expertise in polymer converting technologies and analytical chemistry.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence technical decisions.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
