Job Description – Sales Manager

The role of the Plustar Sales Manager is to recruit, train, manage, direct, and motivate Plustar's sales organization in a manner that complements the goals and purpose of Plustar.

The Sales Manager must be capable of leading by example and through demonstration. S/he will be responsible for setting a sales strategy, building out a sales team, and leading this team to achieve communicated goals. Expertise in process improvement and the ability to leverage tools and technology to drive results will be critical to the ideal candidate's success.

Expectations/Responsibilities:

  • Train, coach and lead the Sales Team, and work cross-functionally with other employees/departments to deliver profitable revenue growth:
  • Grow the sales department revenue and profits. 
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and overall skill development of sales personnel.
  • Improve and implement a sales training program, with best practices and sales coaching.
  • Sales Team Leadership and a heavy focus on new sales:
  • Lead and develop your team as a core contributor to the growth. 
  • Heavy emphasis on net new business by prospecting, hunting for new business opportunities by utilizing (LinkedIn, warm/cold emails & phone calls, in-person visits, networking, etc.) 
  • The Sales Manager will be responsible for the overall performance of the sales personnel. With support from Plutar’s executive team, they set goals- as it relates to sales, profitability, and new business development. In addition, they will monitor progress and achievement by individuals and collectively to help assure maximum sales and profitability for both Plustar and the sales personnel. 
  • The above includes developing, monitoring, and maintaining Sales Quotas, Goals, and departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). 
  • Recruiting -The Sales Manager will oversee advertising, recruiting, interviewing, testing, and hiring of sales representatives and will have input on the hiring of the supporting Account Services personnel. 
  • Training and Development - The Sales Manager will be responsible for planning and supervising the overall sales training program. They will coordinate and provide hands-on development in the field focused on continual improvement with the Outside Sales Team as well as schedule sales meetings both with vendors or for internal instruction. 
  • Motivation - It will be the responsibility of the Sales Manager to help motivate and inspire the Sales personnel to develop and maintain a positive attitude and sense of accomplishment.

Sales and Marketing Strategy  

  • Work with Executive Management to evaluate and adjust overall company sales strategy as needed. This helps to focus, coordinate, and maximize the efforts of the Outside / Inside / Account Services and Web sales teams. 
  • Sales Manager will assist with pricing guidance and the quoting/estimating process for sales functions 
  • The Sales Manager position reports directly to the President. As a key member of Plustar's management team, the Sales Manager will work closely with Plustar's leadership to develop new sales strategies identifying new market categories and innovation opportunities to drive exponential growth. 
  • The Sales Manager will interface and coordinate with other Plustar department leaders and personnel, including the General Manager, Purchasing, Account Services, and Operations (Production and warehousing) to help support the sales processes. 
  • The Sales Manager will spend time in the field (DFW) engaging with Plustar’s Manufacturers, Vendors, and Business Partners as well as existing and potential clients to jointly cultivate and pursue new business opportunities.
