Job Description:
The successful candidate will join our San Diego-based team developing cutting-edge silicon photonics devices. This person will learn and grow rapidly, while having enormous impact across all technical and business activities in a fast-paced startup environment.
Responsibilities:
● Design, simulate, and optimize high-speed electrodes for silicon photonic electro-optic modulators
● Support high-speed electro-optic characterization and data analysis
● Contribute to the development of new intellectual property related to high-speed photonic designs
Required:
● Strong desire to contribute to a high-impact photonics company
● Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field, or M.S. with 2+ years of industry experience
● Solid understanding of RF/microwave devices and systems
● Hans-on experience with on-chip microwave modeling and simulation tools (HFSS, ADS, or similar)
● Ability to work in a team environment and participate in cross-functional activities
● Eligible to work in the United States
Desirable:
● Experience in high-speed (50+ GHz bandwidth) modulator design and characterization
● Prior PIC or EIC tape-out experience with commercial foundries
● Proficient in programming (Python, MATLAB, etc.) for design automation and data analysis
● Strong interest in learning and advancing emerging photonic technologies
● Hands-on experience with high-speed test equipment (network analyzers, BERT, etc.)
● Solid understanding of optical transceiver architectures and system-level requirements
● Knowledge of any of the following areas is a plus: SiPho, PCB, A/MS design, DSP, and SI
Compensation and Benefits:
The annual base salary range for this position is $100,000 - $220,000, with role level tailored to the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will also be offered:
