Location: Utah County, Utah

Position Overview:

We are seeking a qualified Patent Attorney to join our legal team in Utah County. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intellectual property law, with a focus on patents, and will be responsible for advising clients on patentability, conducting patent searches, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and providing litigation support in patent infringement cases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive patent searches to assess the patentability of inventions and identify potential infringement risks.
  • Draft, file, and prosecute patent applications with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to clients regarding intellectual property matters.
  • Assist in intellectual property litigation cases, including patent infringement disputes.
  • Negotiate licensing agreements and conduct due diligence reviews for intellectual property transactions.
  • Stay current with changes in patent laws and regulations, as well as developments in various technical fields.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the state bar and registration to practice before the USPTO.
  • Strong technical or scientific background, preferably in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and communication skills.
  • Proven experience in patent law, including drafting and prosecuting patent applications and handling patent litigation matters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with intellectual property matters related to mechanical engineering.
  • Familiarity with conducting due diligence reviews for intellectual property transactions.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
