The Office Administrator will help clergy, staff, officers, committee leaders, and members fulfill the mission of Government Street Presbyterian Church by ensuring productive and hospitable daily office operations in accordance with the policies and desires of the Session of Government Street Presbyterian Church.
Responsibilities
1. Provide secretarial assistance to professional staff and committee chairs.
2. Respond to telephone and front door or ensure office volunteers are covering this duty.
3. Train and supervise office volunteers.
4. Maintain church calendar and coordinate church use established in staff meetings.
5. Maintain membership database (Realm) for Session Records and correspond with churches regarding member transfers.
6. Assist staff and congregants to use membership database.
7. Assist the Session and Diaconate in maintaining their records.
8. Assist committees with scheduling, record-keeping, and correspondence as needed.
9. Assist the pastor as requested with funeral arrangements.
10. Schedule repairs and maintenance of office equipment
11. Manage computer network with assistance from paid system provider.
12, Perform other administrative duties as needed for the church office operation and help create an atmosphere of welcome to members and visitors.
13. Format sermons for mailing
15. Maintain office supplies
16. Prepare congregational emails and newsletters and bulletins as needed.
17. Any other duties requested by the Pastor.
Qualifications
1. College degree or equivalent work experience related to position
2. Demonstrated computer and secretarial skills (Word, Publisher, Excel)
3. Organizational skills and attention to details as well as ability to work well with people and problem solve.
Hours:
The Office Administrator will be present during posted office hours:
Monday-Thursday 9:00 AM -- 3:30 PM, Friday 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
