OUR SCHOOL
Vox Collegiate is a public, charter school in South Los Angeles. We exist to ensure that each of our students develop the skills and confidence to fulfill their dreams. In the 2025-26 school year, we will serve students in 6th – 8th grade. We serve all students, regardless of income, ability, home language, race, or ethnicity and work as a team to ensure that they receive an excellent education.
THE POSITION
Teachers at our school play a unique role in building the foundation for the future of Vox
Collegiate. The role of teachers in this phase of our school is not only to teach and
develop expertise as an educator, but to be a part of a team that embraces the
challenge of building a culture of community and success that can grow and persist. Our
teachers must believe in and be committed to the mission and vision of Vox Collegiate
and be passionate about bringing them to life. Vox Collegiate teachers are results-driven educators who dedicate their professional lives to empowering students
to fulfill their dreams.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES
To Students:
● Create and maintain a joyful, safe, structured, and engaging school and
classroom environment that grows as a community of individuals working
together to learn
● Achieve measurable academic goals for student growth and mastery
● Encourage and empower students to use and develop their voices
● Develop and maintain a safe, structured classroom environment that encourages
students to take risks and not be afraid to be wrong, understanding that mistakes
are an opportunity to grow
● Plan, implement, and execute engaging, rigorous, daily, standards-based lessons
to ensure that all students master content and reach individual growth goals
● Differentiate instruction effectively to meet individual student needs
● Build and maintain trusting relationships with students and their families
● Develop and administer a variety of formal and informal assessments to measure
student growth and mastery and to improve instruction
● Implement, monitor, and sustain school-wide systems and expectations
● Model and teach our ART values: Ambition, Respect, Team
● Plan and implement intervention strategies for struggling students
● Maintain and enrich subject matter expertise, seeking to become a better teacher
every day
● Communicate regularly and proactively with parents regarding student
performance (positive and negative)
● Provide supervision before school, during student lunch, and after school as
assigned in order to maintain student safety
To Other Staff:
● Collaborate closely with fellow teachers and other staff members to create and
maintain a team- oriented professional culture
● Collaborate closely with fellow teachers to plan and develop lessons,
assessments, and other instructional materials
● Collaborate closely with special education teachers to effectively differentiate
instruction and curriculum materials for students with special education needs
● Communicate proactively with fellow teachers and other staff to effectively
correct any school issues
● Actively participate in all professional development
● Assist other staff when available to help
● Respect the work of fellow teachers and other staff, understanding that everyone
is united by the mission of Vox Collegiate and committed to our students
THE QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
● Commitment to the Vox Collegiate mission and vision
● Desire to collaborate and work as a team
● Belief in student voice and promoting it being a driver of instruction
● Willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and to be self-reflective with regard to
teaching practices and professional growth
● Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities and differentiate for students including
students with special needs and English learners
● Valid intern, preliminary, or clear California multi-subject credential (or interest in
working toward certification)
● Strong communication skills (oral and written)
● Strong organizational skills
● Strong data analysis skills
● Bachelor’s degree
● TB clearance
● Background check clearance
Preferred:
● Bilingual in Spanish
● At least one year of prior teaching experience
● Master’s degree
● Multi-Subject Teaching Credential
