Job Description

Direct and manage all Field Operations with overall responsibilities for safety, production, quality, and other production-related activities on all projects in their pre-determined area. The Field Operations Manager will work with project Superintendents to ensure that all aspects of the project’s concrete construction are effectively coordinated, meet specifications, and remain on schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Concrete Focus: Oversee all concrete-related activities, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to project specifications.
• Coordination: Work closely with Superintendents and other FO Managers to ensure seamless integration of concrete work with other construction activities.
• Productivity Management: Manage labor and material productivity based on budget and job costs. Conduct bi-weekly meetings with Project Executives or Project Managers.
• Manpower Management: Assess and shift manpower resources as needed, collaborating with other area managers to address manpower needs.
• Support and Arbitration: Provide support for Project Managers and Superintendent teams, acting as an arbitrator for disputes related to concrete work.
• Safety Compliance: Collaborate with the Director of Safety to implement safety directives specific to concrete construction. Conduct bi-weekly written safety observations and ensure proper safety training for employees.
• Scheduling: Collect and analyze two-week look-ahead schedules from Superintendents, focusing on concrete work timelines. Coordinate with the Finishing/Division Manager on finishing schedules.
• Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with General Contractor Superintendents, facilitating effective communication between Martin Superintendents and GC Superintendents.
• Site Management: Regularly walk the site to oversee concrete work, ensuring compliance with project plans and specifications.
• Business Development: Participate in presales activities, gathering information on-site with potential customers and other superintendents.
• Equipment Coordination: Manage the coordination of equipment, including cranes, within the area and with other areas.
• Cost Oversight: Oversee job costs related to concrete work, ensuring budget adherence and desired outcomes.
• Problem Solving: Act as the primary problem solver for issues beyond the superintendent level, particularly those related to concrete construction.
• Headcount Management: Work with the Director of Field Operations to identify and address headcount needs.
• Meeting Participation: Attend various meetings, including preconstruction, kickoff, pre-pour, and operations meetings, ensuring concrete work is adequately planned and executed.
• Checklist Compliance: Ensure pre-pour checklists are completed by project managers and superintendents.
• Daily Coordination: Facilitate end-of-day conversations between superintendents and project managers about daily jobsite activities, focusing on concrete work.
• Training Program Management: Oversee the internal training program, ensuring two people are being trained for targeted job responsibilities at all times.
• Consistency in Procedures: Hold regular meetings with superintendents to ensure consistency in operating procedures related to concrete construction.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5+ years' experience as a Superintendent in industrial, commercial, tilt-up, or multi-story concrete construction.
• Ability to travel/temporarily relocate to jobsites outside of the office area.
• Assist with jobsite supervision as necessary, including potential weekends.
• Extensive knowledge and skills in the technical aspects of concrete construction.
• Proven ability to read and understand drawings.
• Ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with customers, employees, and vendors.

- OSHA Certification

- TCA or ACI Certification

- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
