Job Description
The Estimators’ responsibilities include analyzing customer scope of work, specifications and requirements for project quotations to ensure proposals are accurate. Collaborate with Sales and Construction to finalize the proposal.
A successful Estimator will need to have the ability to keep organized and balance responsibilities through appropriate prioritization in order to meet deadlines while ensuring processes and systems are followed and run smoothly. This position will be a vital resource for the estimating team and will require a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for estimating project cost based on specified project requirements.
- Communicate with internal and external customers verbally, in person and via electronic communication.
- Analyze and organize documents received with customer Request for Quote (RFQ).
- Create notes of or highlight customer specifications and requirements for a project.
- Complete take-off of piping, equipment and instruments as defined in the RFQ.
- Complete preliminary heat trace design.
- Create a Bill of Material (BOM) for the project based on the RFQ, take-off and preliminary design.
- Analyze labor and time requirements for a project.
- Prepare an estimate report (SET) detailing all costs associated with the project.
- Communicate the project scope to Sales and Construction.
- Review cost estimate (SET) with Sales and Construction to insure all items are captured and within. Adjust project cost, labor hours, and margins accordingly.
- Collaborating with the sales and construction teams to create a proposal.
- Maintain files and accurately document all projects.
- Communicate and collaborate with other regional estimating and sales teams as needed.
- Regularly review and remain current on Thermon products, Operating Procedures, and Quality Procedures.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent work experience in Electrical Technology and/or Mechanical/Piping Technology
- Minimum of 2 years minimum experience working as a Heat Trace Estimator.
- Work experience in mechanical and/or electrical heat trace engineering/design is a plus
- Work experience in industrial estimating, electrical, mechanical, insulation, steam heat tracking installation and construction is a plus.
- Ability to review and understand P&IDs. Follow product flow paths and zone process heaters
- Ability to read piping isometrics, equipment detail and instrument details to provide accurate take-offs for heat tracing systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Advanced excel experience is a plus.
