Estimator

As the organization expands its project pipeline and modernizes operations, they are looking for a hands-on Estimator to develop accurate and competitive cost projections—ultimately driving strategic pricing decisions and fueling growth.

This is a high-impact role suited for an individual with a solid foundation in steel fabrication, welding, and estimating processes. You'll be collaborating cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and production teams to ensure bids are both competitive and profitable. Focus:

• Analyze project drawings and specifications to generate precise cost estimates for custom-fabricated steel structures.
• Break down project requirements into labor, materials, and overhead components, delivering detailed, data-driven cost models.
• Partner with procurement to assess material pricing, particularly related to steel and fabrication inputs.
• Evaluate vendor and subcontractor proposals to identify the most cost-effective sourcing options.
• Assist in preparing formal bid packages, pricing strategies, and customer-facing documentation.
• Maintain and continuously improve cost estimation tools, templates, and historical data for efficiency and accuracy.
• Identify opportunities to reduce costs without sacrificing quality, contributing to operational improvement initiatives.
• Engage with clients as needed to clarify specifications and provide pre-sales technical input.
• Stay informed on material market trends, fabrication methods, and production innovations to support better estimating outcomes.
• Support operations and project management teams with ongoing budget validation and post-bid analysis.

Skill Set:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of cost estimating experience in steel fabrication, construction, or related industrial manufacturing sectors.
• Proficient in interpreting fabrication drawings, bills of materials, and welding processes.
• Skilled in reading design documents and performing detailed material take-offs.
• Understanding of SG&A, labor burden rates, and cost modeling.
• Experienced with estimation software tools and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
• Ability to work within tight timelines while maintaining a high attention to detail.
• Collaborative, communicative, and adaptable—able to work cross-functionally and thrive in a team setting.
• A creative, process-minded thinker who enjoys refining tools and systems for better performance.
