Job Description

Overview:

A Houston-based construction and engineering firm is seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings (PEMB). This role is ideal for professionals with at least 5 years of estimating experience in PEMB, including those from general contracting or sales engineering backgrounds with relevant project exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams to interpret project requirements and identify necessary materials and components.
  • Issue detailed Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to vendors, ensuring technical clarity and completeness.
  • Respond to vendor inquiries and expedite proposal submissions to meet project timelines.
  • Analyze vendor bids to determine the most cost-effective and technically compliant solutions.
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates using Excel, incorporating steel pricing and vendor quotes.
  • Support the sales team by presenting total project costs and assisting in proposal development.
  • Draft client proposals that consolidate all technical and commercial elements for final review.
  • Update cost data post-award to reflect current pricing and availability.
  • Maintain organized project documentation in SharePoint for seamless handoff to operations.
  • Communicate regularly with estimating and sales leadership to ensure alignment throughout the proposal process.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience estimating PEMB projects.
  • Background in general contracting or sales engineering with PEMB exposure is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills for internal and external collaboration.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce and MBS software is advantageous.
