We are a growing and well-established Rockville, MD based Office Furniture, Audio Visual, and Interior Modular Construction dealer specializing in commercial, healthcare, and government environments. With primary manufacturer lines such as MillerKnoll (furniture) and DIRTT (architectural walls), along with 200+ other manufacturers, Bialek creates inspiring workplaces across various industries.

About You:   We are searching for an energetic and creative team player to join our powerhouse design team. The Design Intern is expected to assist the Design Department with furniture and interiors projects for commercial, government, and healthcare environments. You will learn from NCIDQ and EDAC-certified designers, and work alongside teams of project managers, sales people and specification-support staff. The Design Intern role has an emphasis on learning about the contract furniture industry and supporting the Design team in-person at our office in Rockville, Md. Must be eager to learn from peers and Design Management. 

Responsibilities :

  • In person for the first 2 weeks for training and move to hybrid working. 
  • Support project tasks assigned by Designer or Design Management
  • Eager and receptive to learning
  • Supporting specific project, interior design, space planning, and development tasks including drawings, FF&E selection, finish boards and specifications
  • Basic understanding of the Design process
  • Knows whom to seek for resources and questions
  • Able to track design time
  • Review and understand drawings/concepts prepared by others
  • Participate in meetings and activities as needed
  • Perform as a team-player
  • Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness
  • Organized and Dependable
  • Professional and Respectful

 

Qualifications:

  • Internship/Entry Level position
  • Space planning experience required
  • Strong work ethic and leadership qualities
  • BS/BA Degree in Interior Design from a FIDER/CIDA accredited program
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask
  • AutoCAD, CAP Worksheet, CET, Revit experience helpful

 

Physical Demands: This position requires long times of sitting, standing, walking, must be able to drive to client locations and to the office.
