Job Description

At American Signature Inc., we believe everyone has the right to a well-furnished life. Since 1948, we have been helping families fill their homes with furniture they love. Our company includes more than 120 family-owned and operated stores. We are currently looking for an experienced Associate Merchant for a temporary assignment. This team member will need to be onsite in our Columbus, OH offices 1-2 times a week and must be able to start immediately.

What your day will look like:

  • Coordinate with vendors and other cross functional team members to support product throughout its lifecycle (Photography, Copy, Assembly Instructions, etc.)
  • Analyze business trends, identify opportunities, and provide recommendations to the team
  • Enters data and manages product detail spreadsheets regarding cost, retail, dimensions, product features and benefits
  • Document process improvement initiatives to support learning and development effort for direct ship category of merchandise
  • Pattern competitors on-line and in the local market and report findings to the team
  • Act as liaison between vendors, Merchant teams, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders including accounts payable, IT, and customer care
  • Manage promotional sales events tasks such as: calendar management, vendor submissions, pricing file updates, feature product selection, and internal communication
  • Build and manage market schedule and vendor agendas for 3-4 markets annually

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two years experience in Merchandising
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Passion for designer furniture
  • Strong interest in ecommerce channel
  • Understanding of direct ship operating model preferred
  • Self-sufficient and independently drive actions
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically excel
