Job Description

Staffworks is looking for a detail-oriented and organized Entry-Level Bookkeeper to assist with our client's needs. The ideal candidate will manage basic bookkeeping tasks such as recording financial transactions, reconciling accounts, and ensuring accuracy in financial data. This position is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to start their career in bookkeeping or accounting.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Record day-to-day financial transactions, including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments.
  • Maintain and update the general ledger by posting journal entries.
  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements with internal records.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and follow up on collections.
  • Assist in preparing financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
  • Process payroll and ensure timely payment of employees.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial documentation.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Support the accounting team in audits and financial reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and relevant accounting regulations.

Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is a plus).
  • Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices.
  • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, FreshBooks).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new accounting procedures.

Preferred Skills :

  • Previous experience in bookkeeping or related accounting roles is a plus (e.g., internships or part-time work).
  • Familiarity with payroll processing and bank reconciliations is an advantage.

Pay Rate:

$19-$20/hr DOE
